We are approaching the magical 500!

We had a clear plan: in October, we announced a halt to the admission of new children in order to focus all our energy on building a new clinic. But the reality on the ground and the insistence of our local team did not leave us cold. We stepped back and opened our arms to other fighters.

Last Friday, we admitted 10 new children, and on Monday, another 5 will join them.

The whole team worked hard: we have just admitted patient number 499 and are eagerly awaiting the anniversary number 500!

The risk that does not wait: The fight against cerebral palsy in children

For children with sickle cell anemia, the threat of cerebral palsy is a daily shadow that can change their lives at any time.

Among the newly admitted children is a little girl who had a stroke a year ago, and we are now doing our best to stabilize her. We are happy to have her in our care now, and although we will not repeat the first tragedy, we are working hard to prevent her from having another stroke and to prevent other children in our program from having one altogether.

Zdeněk performed a transcranial Doppler examination on all new patients, Chris took blood directly in the ultrasound room, and the laboratory immediately prepared a series of tests. Doctor Ali then comprehensively examined everyone and included them in the chronic program. All this was accompanied by demanding administration and social evaluation of the families. We are busy, but the dozens of smiles are worth the fatigue. Thank you for being with us!💙
